As the eye ages, we all lose the ability to focus over a variety of ranges. This is called Presbyopia. For people who see well at distance with no glasses or with contact lenses, this means there is an increasing need for reading glasses. A new prescription eye drop called Vuity may improve near vision without the need for readers. During your presbyopia evaluation, which will last up to 1 hour, we will assess your near vision with your current correction, glasses or contact lenses if you wear them, take a photograph of your retina, (the inside of the eye), and if we agree you are a good candidate, instill Vuity drops, and then have you stay in the office for at least 30 minutes. During that time you are free to read or browse in our optical department. We will recheck your near vision and determine if Vuity may be valuable for you.
