Dr. Pillai is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has several years of experience caring for patients in Maryland. Dr. Pillai completed her undergraduate and medical education at the University of Miami, where she was a member of the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education. She then completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL before relocating to Baltimore in 2009. After completing her Ophthalmology residency at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital (where she served as Chief Resident), Dr. Pillai did a fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Immunology at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Since 2013, she has been a faculty member of the Krieger Eye Institute and is proud to have trained many successful residents. While there, she served as associate Program Director of the Residency and was a 3-time recipient of the Resident Teaching Award, primarily for outstanding surgical education. She continues to be on their part-time teaching Faculty.
Dr. Pillai specializes in the medical management of uveitis, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology, including glaucoma evaluations and diabetic eye exams. She performs routine and complex cataract surgeries as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and lasers.
In her free time, Dr. Pillai enjoys reading, hiking, traveling and most of all, spending time with her husband and two young children.
